Illuminate returned to the Performing Arts Center, bringing together dancers from across Cal Poly for the university’s annual student-run dance showcase. Organized by United Movement, the production featured cultural clubs and dance organizations representing a wide range of backgrounds and styles, from Hmong dance and Ballet Folklórico to lion dance, hula, ballroom and contemporary. After months of rehearsals and behind-the-scenes preparation, two sold-out shows highlighted student talent, cultural expression and campus unity. Reporters Kimber Draughon and Sedona Harris takes us behind the curtain to explore what makes Illuminate such a meaningful tradition.
