Ben Gordon is the ultimate "what even happened to that guy?" guy. His NBA career was basically over at age thirty even though he showed incredible promise as a scorer in his early years. This highlight video comes to us at the tail end of Gordon's relevance in the NBA, after his disappointing stint in Detroit saw him get flipped to the Bobcats for Corey Maggette (another big-time scorer who was at the very end of his career). Apparently the Bobcats thought Gordon would be a more effective Tank Commander than Maggette.

Okay, so maybe Ben Gordon thrives in the “sixth man scorer off the bench” role. That makes sense given that he’s averaging 15 PPG without a single start. But it doesn’t explain why he was so bad in Detroit. Perhaps Rip Hamilton gobbled up too many minutes? In any case, Gordon does everything in his power to help the Bobcats win this game against the Blazers, going 8-of-12 from three and even throwing in a two-point field goal. However, they are stymied at the end by the unexpected clutch play of Luke “Babbust” Babbitt. They are who we thought they were.
