Famous song by László Jávor & Rezső Seress. Many people committed suicide because of this sad tune. Originally just a song, often performed in gypsy mood but many jazz greats had it on their repertoire, too. We do a smooth real Hungarian version of it and then include a final chorus as Artie Shaw played it with his big band.
Recorded at the 25th anniversary gala of the Bohém Ragtime Jazz Band (Kecskemét, Hungary). The event featured many swing, charleston and tap dancers and Steven Mitchell swing dancer and singer from the USA. The concert took place in Budapest, Béla Bartók National Concert Hall, Palace of Arts on Oct 24, 2010. The hall was full, thus 1,300 people in the audience.
