Furoshiki: How to Fold a Bag (K-12 Instructional Series)

You will just need:

• One furoshiki cloth. (Any kind of cloth)
• Stuff you need to carry! Groceries, books, DVDs, anything!

Instructions:

1. Place the furoshiki in a diamond shape from where you are facing with the patterned side facing up.

2. Fold the cloth once bringing the opposite corner to the other to make an isosceles right triangle.

3. Tie one of the corners, a quarter of the way in.

4. And then tie the other corner. Make sure both of the ties have enough length from the corner of the cloth. A good way to check if your tail is long enough is to line the tail with the edge of the remaining triangle.

5. Spread out the furoshiki to make a square shape and flip the whole bag around.

6. Place the two ties inside the bag.

7. Take the two corners without a tie and hold it up into the air. At this point, you should have a cradle like pocket.

8. Place the stuff you need to carry.

9. Take the two corners and tie them together into a mamusubi.
