This interim solution will serve as the line's terminus until funding allows for the full extension through Bakersfield. The first phase, connecting Merced to Bakersfield, is projected for completion by 2033, with the ultimate goal of linking San Francisco to Anaheim at an estimated cost of $126 billion.
