I own nothing, I collect nothing.
Apologies for the station watermark.
In what I believe was AMC's second opening update of 2005, longtime star John Callahan (Edmund Grey) is bid farewell, his character the victim of a fatal shovel to the head in March 2005. Also removed: Christian Campbell (Bobby Warner). What isn't clear is why neither actor's image was removed from the opening in AMC's April update, when David Canary's Stuart Chandler replaced the departed Marcy Walker (Liza Colby).
With Callahan/Edmund gone, the hovering "frame" his image appeared in was removed as well; the full first set of four frames that the "Curtains" opening premiered with didn't return until 2010.
Eden Riegel (Bianca Montgomery) made her first of many departures from AMC in February 2005, along with Elizabeth Hendrickson (Maggie Stone, Bianca's partner). After numerous guest appearances, Riegel inked a short-term contract in 2006 and was thus returned to the opening for several months; Hendrickson made a month-long guest return in 2007.
Added to the opening: Chrishell Stause, playing the now-adult Amanda Dillon. As you'll see, Stause received two images in this version, but in all subsequent updates, only her second image is shown. I'm guessing some fans had an issue with her attire, visible in the first image but not the second. But that is only speculation.
Also added: Kelli Giddish, future Law & Order: SVU star. Giddish's character was initially thought to be a resurrected Dixie Cooney, but was later revealed to be Dixie's sis Diana "Di" Henry.
With Riegel gone, Leven Rambin (Lily Montgomery) claims the final spot before the second present-day image of Susan Lucci (Erica Kane) at the opening's end. Rambin/Lily would remain there until Rambin left AMC in the summer of 2008.
Note the collages at the beginning have been overhauled as well. Most notably, Callahan's pic with Eva LaRue (Maria Santos) is replaced with a pic of Jacob Young and Alexa Havins as J.R. and Babe Chandler. Also, the "falling" pics at the beginning are changed; most notably, a pic of Canary and Walker as Adam Chandler and Liza is replaced by one of Lucci/Erica and Walt Willey (Jack Montgomery) running on a beach—as if Erica needed any more visibility in the "Curtains" opening.
There are also changes to the "flipping" pics as the album shuts.
I'm not sure why Julia Barr's (Brooke English) head tilt was done away with...I liked the tilt.
