MY CONTENT WAS USED WITHOUT MY PERMISSION:
A company selling gaming products contacted me 3 times in an attempt to seek my permission for them to use one of my YouTube videos, and a transcript of it, on their company website. I did not give them permission, I did not reply to any of their contact attempts, yet they proceeded without my permission to use my content. They produced an article the content of which came from my video, then embedded my video at the end of their article. To state the obvious there are a number of issues with this, first in legal terms:

1) They breached copyright law. I own full copyright to all my content. I did not give permission for my content to be used (they knew they required my permission to use my content and a transcript of it in the manner they wanted to - they tried to get it 3 times).
2) My content was being used alongside advertisements and promotion for the products they sell - the legal system is very against such practices i.e. using other peoples copyrighted work in an attempt to seek personal monetary gain.
3) My content was being used to try and boost the companies rankings in Google search results, which again would benefit the company. This could detract views from my content, again the legal system comes down hard on such behaviour.
4) The article stated it was written by the companies staff. That is a lie AND to the reader it implies that I am part of the companies staff which I am not.

Aside from legal issues, there are clear issues of integrity and principle:

1) It’s wrong to steal other peoples content, their hard work, their efforts.
2) How would people doing this feel if it was done to them?

I’m not going to go into any further details regarding this and currently, on the date this video is uploaded, I am waiting patiently for the company to remove my content completely from their website. I requested that they come up with their own content and that they do not use/copy mine. I am writing this to make it clear I do NOT give my permission for anyone to use my content, and I never have. As I write this I am not, and never have, been connected with any company nor have I received any products from any company. I create MY YouTube videos using items I have purchased and paid for with my own money, and I don’t create articles or videos for anyone else. If I ever did partner with a company I would be legally obliged to state that in my videos if I was using and promoting their products as part of a deal. I hope this all makes sense! I am a hard working small channel run by only myself and I wanted to make that clear to my loyal subscribers who I appreciate.
