The 8th Shogun, Tokugawa Yoshimune, known as the "Abarenbo Shogun." Despite being renowned as a wise ruler, Yoshimune leaves Edo Castle and joins forces with a young samurai, Tokuda Shinnosuke, embarking on various investigations. Confronting villains who feign innocence, he declares, "Have you forgotten my face!?" revealing the true identity of the "Abarenbo Shogun" and dispensing justice with his unparalleled sword skills.

Since its inception in 1978, the 'Abarenbo Shogun' series has captured the hearts of the nation with its enduring popularity over 25 years. At the core of its success is the charismatic performance of the mega-star Ken Matsudaira, portraying the spirited and refreshing character of Yoshimune. The series, known for its historical setting, also seamlessly incorporates elements of a heartwarming home drama. The lively ensemble includes 'Sub-chan,' played by Saburo Kitajima, who doubles as the head of the 'Team Mei' and his wife O-Sai (Masumi Harukawa), singing the theme song.
