This was the last piece I wrote on the soundtrack, deliberately. I wanted to write something evocative of everything to come, using a number of leitmotifs and sounds that appear later.
But why C? Not just because of the sea, it's the first note, a sharp and pointy low C in the cello. The key of each non-diagetic piece is important, relating directly to the moral centre of the characters or situation.
C is slightly bad. C# is slightly better. B is bad. Keep an ear out.
