Vaalharts Water employees in the Northern Cape have shut down the plant, demanding the intervention of Water and Sanitation Minister, Gugile Nkwinti. Tensions at the plant have been brewing for the past few weeks, following allegations of racism, favouritism and unfair labour conditions. A section manager at the Warrenton plant was suspended last week for allegedly using the K-word when referring to his subordinates. Our reporter Reginald Witbooi spoke to the employees.
