Awesome K5HLA on BNSF 8060 East in Mazon, IL 2/27/21

Описание: So, we got quite the story with this catch. Asa had given me a heads up on Q-SSECHC coming east through Minnesota with BNSF 8060 leading solo late February 25th. With that in mind, I went out to the Aurora Sub the next morning to try and see if I could catch it, not knowing where it was at.

Around noon, Zack and Asa informed me of a Q-SSECHC on the Chilli, which confused the absolute hell out of me. As I was getting ready to head back, it turned out to be a different SSECHC than the 8060, so I stayed put on the Aurora for a while. I contacted a BNSF friend of mine to see if he could trace it, and he told me at 5 PM it cleared Savanna at 3:38 PM. I noticed an EB coming up to Rochelle with no other EBs in sight, so I figured it had to be it, but it turned out to be a mixed freight, which made me all sorts of confusion.

After more investigating, it turned out to be taking the Barstow down to Galesburg just like the previous Q-SSECHC. Finally confirmed 8060 on the railcam around 7 PM, so now the wait was on to see how long it would take to get recrewed. It only took about an hour or so, so the race was on back to the Chilli.

Finally at about 12:45 AM, BNSF 8060 made its presence known in Mazon. The wind was carrying from the west, so the K5HLA was loud and crisp all the way from Kinsman, and it sounded glorious. The fact that it's forward facing makes it all the better.
