Many Americans weren't quite sure what to make of SAAB. Initial reactions for some when they first encountered the early two-stroke imports was surprise that any vehicle was still had a two stroke engine.
Even as SAAB matured it was still a strange bird. Unlike Volvo, that developed an 'it's ugly but it's safe" reputation SAAB never had a clear identity.
We were largely unaware of its success in rally racing. This short clip of an assault on Pikes Peak gives us an idea of how the company built its performance reputation in Europe.
