Описание: In post-menopausal women, ovarian cysts are not common because the ovaries have become quieter and there is no more hormonal activity that is going on. So when by and large if cysts are identified in the ovary in the post-menopausal group, the doctors would want further evaluation of the nature of the cyst which is done by the risk of the malignancy index. In that they would as you to undergo a vaginal scan. They would ask as you to undergo a CA-125, which is a blood test, which is also called as a tumor marker. Based on the findings and the CA-125,the doctors would find out if you are fit to under go a procedure with them or you would need a further reference, most of them if they are simple cyst less than 5 cms they can be dealt with laparoscopically and because the risk of malignancy would be much less than compared to an open surgery. If there is a high risk or a high suspicion that there is a malignancy, then we would suggest you to undergo a laparotomy, probably with the help of an oncology surgeon to help you to get a better outcome.
