Today’s case involves a patient from Nepal diagnosed with non-obstructive azoospermia who previously underwent a microTESE procedure elsewhere. His hormonal parameters were within normal limits, and he came to us in the hope of retrieving viable sperm.
Using an operative microscope, we meticulously identified and aspirated the healthiest seminiferous tubules from the testes. These samples were then prepared and examined in our embryology lab. Despite thorough evaluation, no viable sperm were found in this attempt.
It’s essential for patients to understand that even with a well-performed microTESE, the probability of sperm retrieval ranges between 35 to 50 percent. While results can vary, the procedure offers valuable clarity and mental closure, allowing patients and couples to plan their next steps confidently.
Consult a fertility expert to understand your options better and make informed decisions in your parenthood journey.
