1000 LONDONERS
This film is part of 1000 Londoners, a five-year digital project which aims to create a digital portrait of a city through 1000 of the people who identify themselves with it. The profile contains a 3 minute film that gives an insight into the life of the Londoner, as well as their personal photos of London and some answers to crucial questions about their views on London life. Over the course of the project we aim to reveal as many facets of the capital as possible, seeing city life from 1000 points of view.

TRANSCRIPT
People are being forced out of London to Manchester, Hastings, Birmingham, where there's no support network. People are being forced into private rented accommodation they can't afford. Private rents are too expensive. They’re insecure contracts, meaning people are having to move every six to 12 months. Focus E15 mothers are having a political occupation of four flats on Carpenters Estate.
My name's Jasmine Stone, I'm one of the mums from Focus E15. I'm 20, I have a two year old daughter called Safia. We are originally a group of mums from a hostel called Focus E15 and the hostel itself, it consists of 210 flats, 29 for young mums and the other 180 with single residents. In August last year, the mums got all sent eviction notices and we had two months to find ourself accommodation. Everybody that's housed in the hostel Focus E15, they've been put there for a reason. Everyone's under the age of 25 and people have been put there mainly because they've suffered from domestic violence, come out of social services care or they've been physically homeless on the street. It feels like we're being set up to fail from the beginning because I'm somebody that's come from a working class family and I'm in this situation so my daughter's gonna be changing schools all the time. Her education's probably gonna be poorer than others that are gonna be able to sit through school the whole way through. And then God forbid, she's gonna be set up to fail and it's really upsetting to think that because they're our children's futures and it is really really upsetting, it's really worrying. I'm a bit emotional.
[Crowd] In London! [Jasmine] Stop making people homeless. [Crowd] Keep us in London! [Jasmine] Stop making people homeless. [Boy and Crowd] Keep us in London! [Jasmine] People are being forced out of their homes and sent out of London to Manchester, Hastings, Birmingham, where there's no support network, no family. People are being forced into private rented accommodation they can't afford. Private rents are too expensive.
My whole life has changed, it's like as soon as you start to fight back you realise so many things in life, like so much is corrupt and there's so many people that need a lot of help and I was one of the people that was-- I was so shy and terrified to say anything to anyone. But you learn that the people that are in power, the people that try to boss you around and tell you what to do and make you feel so intimidated and small, those people actually work for you and you need to fight back and let them know that they work for you because that's why they've been put in place there. Yeah.
