Crossing Type: MCB
Route: Worcester & Hereford Line
Located within the suburb of Henwick, in the cathedral city of Worcester, on Henwick Road (B4206), close to the Worcester Viaduct which spans across the River Severn. This crossing sees services operated by West Midlands Railway (typically ones from Birmingham to Hereford and vice versa) and Great Western Railway. The two running lines here are bi-directional - the 'up' line is used by trains travelling to/from Droitwich avoiding Worcester Shrub Hill Station, while the 'down' line is used by all trains that pass through Worcester Shrub Hill.
Situated adjacent to the crossing is Henwick Signal Box, which is still in use today and controls this crossing as well as this small section of line.
The crossing in its current form dates back to May/June 2015 when a full renewal took place. It consists of 4 wigwags, 4 barriers and 2 fairly quiet Yodalarms. It can be heard that one of the barriers hits the road surface quite hard. Each of the wigwags are mounted on 'side' brackets which allows them to be mounted further left/right for visibility unlike when mounted onto the posts.
