This video started out as a two-hour Search and Rescue training exercise in tree line search. I still use the Fenix HP30R V2 as my number-one SAR headlamp and it was left in constant 1800 Lumen (combined) mode for the entirety of this exercise.
I often record segments of these exercises, particularly while I'm testing things like cold-weather gear. The narration serves as detailed notes that I can refer to at a later time.
After this exercise, I decided that others might wish to see how the headlamp performed in a high illumination mode over an extended period of time. There is no narration in this video since much of the commentary would not make sense.
The level of illumination seemed very consistent over time, almost as if the headlamp did not go into regulation during the exercise. Average temp. was 39F and battery was down to 25% after about 2:06.
I hope you find the display helpful if you are considering this headlamp for purchase. While I used relatively new batteries, the headlamp itself has nearly a year of hard use as of the filming of this exercise.
For those who may be wondering, that was a Texas Armadillo under the cattle guard :)
