Domenico Scarlatti (1685–1757): Sonata in E minor, Kk. 81
Domenico Scarlatti was born in Naples in 1685, the same year as J.S. Bach and G.F. Handel. Like Handel, Scarlatti spent most of his career away from his native land. Both men became leading musical figures in their adoptive countries. Scarlatti lived in Spain from 1729 until his death in 1757. He incorporated both melodic and harmonic traits of Andalusian folk music into many of his 555 keyboard sonatas and other works.
