Here we continue in our exploration of great riffs, songs and album from 1985....

Another great riff from 1985 comes from Dio's Sacred Heart album.
We're looking at the title track in this lesson. This was Dio's third solo album, and after huge success with both Holy Diver and The Last In Line, this album was a bit of a let down overall, despite having a couple of great tracks.

This was the last Dio album to feature Vivian Campbell, so it's safe to assume things were not all rosy at this time in the Dio camp and that surely had something to do with the below par (for Dio) songwriting as a whole.

Despite all of this the title track "Sacred heart" is classic Dio and the riffs here are fun to play and not that difficult to get a grip on if you are a newer player. The riffs use those power chords on the D and G strings that became so prevalent in the 80's

Have fun with this and tune down 1/2 step to play along.
