Glen Oro's farm was first settled in 1841 by Duncan Clark, who came to Upper Canada from Scotland. The Clark family has cut Glen Oro out of the wild for generations, and several of their structures still exist in the territory today, along with a stabbing of stumps on every field — evidence of how much work these first pioneers have saved for themselves.

In 1967, William and Marion Sila bought a farm and later moved their four children north from Toronto. Leslie Sila, the youngest of four, worked his whole life with horses in the territory and turned Glen Oro into the horse sports center he is today. Now that she is working with her two sons, Luke and Phil, it is a great pleasure to see the farm continue to grow and develop while preserving its proud heritage and traditions that are rooted in the past.
