Last year, I had great success using a cinder block evaporator, but the blocks fell apart from the heat. This year, I made one from a 55 gallon drum. It worked well, but I feel that it was slower and used more wood than the previous year. Either way, I got almost three quarts of syrup today, and there is more to come!
