A primary seaport for the island of Ireland, the Port of Cork has a historical significance that dates back centuries.
Today the port has over 120 full time employees and plays a vital role in both the local and national economy.
With millions of tonnes of cargo moving through the port annually and many business relying on it, it’s critical that the port can keep up with new demands and increasing volumes.
The port had to adapt to the physical constraints of handing larger vessels to remain an international gateway for trade.
Working closely with the team at EY, the Port of Cork secured funding to enable the development of new deep water facilities at Ringaskiddy Container Terminal.
With development well under way, the new container terminal and deep water berth is due to be completed in 2020, future-proofing the Port of Cork for generations to come.
