As we entered Odendaalsrus, one of the oldest mining towns in the Free State goldfields, we were greeted by a traffic circle decorated with beautiful signs bearing inspiring quotes. We headed straight to our accommodation, checked in, and then set out to explore OD, as the town is affectionately called. Driving near a gold mine proved fascinating, giving us a glimpse into what keeps the town going. We also came across some stunning roads lined with tall palm trees, adding a positive and welcoming atmosphere. On the other hand, we passed by the old, abandoned caravan park, once surely a wonderful place to camp, surrounded by water, but now left to time. Overall, we truly enjoyed our visit to Odendaalsrus.
