Walk instead of run. I wanted to do the 4x4x48 challenge as a way of getting myself out of my comfort zone. The challenge was created by David Goggins where individuals from their own homes or community spaces run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. I found out about it from following Lex Fridman.
I went back and fourth about doing it, considering I would not physically be able to run four miles over the period required. Ultimately I decided that walking would be just as challenging. In doing some research 45 minutes of activity was really what was being asked of you in committing to participating.
Instead of a run, I chose to walk for 45 minutes every four hours. I tracked results through the weekend noting my miles, calories spent (using my Fitbit) depending on the route I took, and steps. Using steps was helpful in comparing my walking at home sessions versus going outside. I compare the two metrics in the video.
If you're in need of a reset or a push to walk more I would recommend it as a steps challenge. Especially if you are set on a routine with walking. This will help you experience getting in your steps at different times of day and show you that you can actually fit in a quick walking workout.
