Anti-Kavanaugh Protesters Gather in DC

Описание: (10 Jul 2018) People gathered outside the United States Supreme Court to protest President Donald Trump's nominee to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy.
Trump has introduced Brett Kavanaugh as "a judge's judge" and cited his "proven commitment to equal justice under the law."
But those protesting think Kavanaugh will be too conservative, and affect progress made on issues like women's rights, LGBTQ rights and worker's rights.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand said, "What is at stake is women's freedom. Our freedom to make our own decisions. Our freedom to decide when and how many children we are going to have. What's at stake is freedom for LGBTQ Americans. For equal rights. For civil rights. For voting rights."
The crowd chanted, "Kavanaugh has got to go, Protect Roe."
Trump announced Kavanaugh as his pick Monday night on prime-time television.
The 53-year-old Kavanaugh is a longtime fixture of the Republican establishment. He has been a judge on the federal appeals court in Washington since 2006. He also was a key aide to Kenneth Starr during the investigation of President Bill Clinton.
