The fifth episode in our Marking a Martin Concert series. In this episode, we prepare the ribs before the front and back can be glued. This involves making sure that everything is perfectly finished and structurally sound so that the resonating body of the instrument is not under tension. We also carry out some important work relating to playability: creating a taper in the ribs that will reduce the top dimensions and make the double bass easier to get around.
