Remember to always consult your owners manual before using your boat.
Winch straps are forsure overlooked. On boats that are stored outside in the hot summer sun these can dry out and weaken. Go head and unwind your winch strap and check for any tears, or weak points to ensure a safe trip down the road.
Check your sea strainers if applicable. Sea Strainers do a great job filtering out unwanted debris that could harm your engine. Go ahead and check your sea strainers and remove any debris that might have been collected.
Dead or corroded batteries are a sure way to put a buzz kill on an exciting day of boating. Always check your connections, make sure there is no corrosion and replace those batteries before they expire.
Checking your underwater gear is also a really good idea.You’d be surprised how often people ding their props and don’t know until it’s too late. Small dings in a prop, bent tracking fins or a bent shaft throw off alignment or causes vibrations. Take a few seconds before you put your boat in the water and check your brass.
Although you or your dealer may have serviced your boat recently it’s always a good idea to check your motor oil, transmission oil, and v-drive fluids and make sure those are topped off to the appropriate levels. This is a quick thing to do that could save you thousands of dollars!
