This is my Japanese-style Pumpkin Bread, made with real Japanese kabocha —
the kind with the beautiful green skin that’s rare outside Japan.
I kneaded boiled pumpkin skin into the dough for the crust,
and filled it with smooth pumpkin paste and a soft, yellow crumb.
Made with whole wheat flour and fresh cream,
it’s crispy on the outside and chewy inside — a perfect balance between bread and dessert.
Unlike Western pumpkins with orange skin,
Japanese pumpkins have a rich green color and deep flavor.
That’s what makes this bread truly unique.
