Southeastern and Thameslink Trains at Rochester on March 3rd 2022

Описание: 2nd visit to Rochester on the Chatham Main Line 1st since April 2019 featuring services from Southeastern and Thameslink.

On the day of filming Southeastern services to and from London Victoria were experiencing minor delays due to a fault with the signalling system between Swanley and Farningham Road.

Rochester station was first opened on the East Kent Railway in 1892 500 metres to the east however was re-sited to todays location on Cooperation Street in December 2015 which is more closer to the nearby town centre of Rochester.

The reason for the station being relocated was because the original 1892 station was only long enough to accomodate 10 car trains so the station was moved 500 metres to todays location which the 3 platforms are long enough for 12 car Trains.

Eventhough there are 3 platforms here the although Platforms 1 and 2 commonly used by Southeastern from London Victoria and St Pancras International as well as Thameslink services from Rainham to St Albans via Greenwich which join the Chatham Main Line before the line crosses over the River Medway.

As for Platform 3 it can be used for terminating certain services during peak times as well as acting as a passing loop for freight trains which the 3 track formation follows until after passing the site of the former Rochester Station to the east.
