Over the years, I have posted numerous videos demonstrating how I go about cleaning my Swisstrax floor. On occasion, these videos elicit negative comments about what a waste of time it is or how stupid it is or how trendy it is. I’d be lying if I said those comments don’t irritate me, but I instead of striking back, I am going to channel the educator in me and I have decided I will make this video that clearly articulates the reasons I and thousands of others prefer a Swisstrax style floor to a bare concrete or any type of epoxy coating.

I’m never going to say Swisstrax is a universally better system because it totally depends on the ways in which a garage is designed to perform. But, for me and countless others, there is no doubt that this is the right flooring system for my “garage lifestyle”.

1️⃣ The Look.
• Striking appearance.
• Real conversation starter.
• Limitless looks to choose from (sophisticated like mine, or wild if that’s what you prefer)
• Uniqueness by combining different colours and styles

2️⃣ “Walking on Water”.
• Winter - melting snow and ice make the floor a watery muddy mess consistently.
• By allowing the water to escape through the vents, I am always walking on water.
• Some of the mud dries to the surface of the tiles but easy sweep or mop.
• The two weeks when I didn’t have a floor my son stepped in some mud when he exited the vehicle and I had to clean muddy footprints through the garage up the stairs and into the mudroom (this just never happens with Swisstrax) and vice versa into the car.
• Don’t tell me you clean your epoxy or concrete floor on a daily basis - no one is that disciplined!

• Dirty water runs underfoot so I’m never traipsing around in it or having to kneel in it.
• I can actually lay tools and equipment on the floor without fear of it becoming wet, dirty or damaged.
• Makes the process more rewarding, especially when you are making videos or taking pictures.

4️⃣ Traps and Hides Debris.
• Became a play space for me and my little guy.
• Gravel and dirt fall into the spaces and are no longer an issue.
• We could play hockey in the middle of winter with no road salt or gravel to clean up first.
• Sometimes, you can’t just rinse out your garage when the weather is freezing outside.

• I know people who have paid thousands for an epoxy coating and need it redone.
• Same goes for painted concrete floors, the paint never lasts.

7️⃣ Movable.
• What if you sell your house or you’re a renter?
• You can pack this floor up and take it with you or sell like I did.
• You can easily add different colours which I have considered.

8️⃣ Moving heavy items like the Quickjack is easy.
• The rounded shape of the “ribs” reduces friction.
• Works well with rolling carts and creeper stools.
• You won’t get hung up on a little rock.
• None of that sound of casters moving over dirt and rocks.

9️⃣ Cushions walking and if items drop they don’t shatter.
• Very comfortable underfoot compared to hard concrete.
• Less chance of damage if you drop something.

🔟 Prolongs the life of the garage floor.
• Do I have scientific proof or do I even need it to know this is true?
• No gravel grinding into the top layer of your concrete.
• My floor has never seen a hot tire.
