At home with the Cape Town Baroque Orchestra - Episode 4
Members of the Cape Town Baroque Orchestra explore repertoire that would have been played and sung at home. For the last episode in this series, the Cape Town Baroque Orchestra’s Artistic Director, Erik Dippenaar, plays a chorale prelude by J.S. Bach on a Baroque style chamber organ built by William Selway Robson in 2012. ‘Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten’, BWV 691 occurs in both the 1725 'Notenbüchlein für Anna Magdalena Bach' and the 'Klavierbüchlein für Wilhelm Friedemann Bach' (which was compiled from 1720 onwards, and served as pedagogical material for Wilhelm Friedeman). In keeping with the general theme of this series, this piece not only represents the keyboard repertoire that was played in the Bach household, but also gives a glimpse into J.S. Bach’s teaching practice.
