David Romo, a historian specializing in the U.S. and Mexican border, emphasized El Paso's strategic importance.

"El Paso was one of the most important cities, not only in the United States but in Mexico in terms of launching the Mexican Revolution," Romo said.

He noted that Pancho Villa frequently visited El Paso due to its proximity to the border, using the city as a recruitment and hiding ground.

Claudia A. Rivers, head of special collections at UTEP, highlighted the extensive research interest in Pancho Villa, stating, "It is a popular research topic, and we have dozens of books about Pancho Villa."
