This video demonstrates the simulation of the structure's deformation.
The structural analysis (Strength of Materials) of the deformed structure using Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis involves modeling the geometry and supports, applying loads (self-weight, live loads, etc.), and then running the calculation to obtain the displacements (deflections), rotations, force diagrams (NMT), and support reactions, which are visualized directly on the 3D model to understand how the structure deflects and deforms, while verifying the strength conditions and limiting displacements.
Key steps of the analysis with Robot:
Modeling: Creating the geometry (beams, columns, slabs) and defining the materials and sections.
Supports and Loads: Defining the support types (fixed supports, simple supports, etc.) and applying the load cases (forces, moments, distributed loads).
Structural Analysis: Launch the solver which calculates internal forces (N, M, T) and displacements (deflections, rotations).
Results Visualization:
Deformed Shape: Displays the deformed shape of the structure (deflection), often at an exaggerated scale for clarity.
Diagrams: Displays diagrams of bending moments (M), shear forces (T), and axial forces (N).
Support Reactions: Verification of forces and moments at supports.
Displacements: Analysis of average floor displacements, relative displacements between stories (displacement coefficient), etc.
