A Modern Twist on a Timeless Piece | Wood Turning a Dough Bowl

Описание: By far one of my more favorite pieces I have turned in quite some time. I have been on a kick of watching hand carved dough bowls & something that I have considered getting into but I wanted to see if it was something that I could turn. The oval shapes have always been the attention grabber when it comes to traditional dough bowls but since I was turning it, I knew that obviously would not be an option however the handles were absolutely a possibility so I started there. I had this dry piece of beautiful ambrosia maple that I thought would make the perfect piece for the bowl & I think my hunch was correct! I did not realize just how much figure, grain & color this piece of wood had in it until I started turning some away because a lot of the grain you see was not really shown on the outside. It is safe to say that dough bowls will now be something I add to my line up of products in the future & I look forward to making MANY more.
