Описание: The Love That Led to Family Murder: The Arsenic Death of Richard Gallop | True Crime 1844
News of the Times | Episode 625 | 1844

A quiet Cheshire household. A forbidden romance. And a young woman whose determination to choose her own future led her down a path of arsenic, deception, and a crime that stunned Victorian Britain.

In tonight’s episode, we follow the chilling unraveling of the 1844 Crewe parricide — from the first family quarrel to the repeated poison purchases, the tainted bread and arrowroot, and the investigation that exposed a methodical plan carried out within the walls of an ordinary working-class home.

Drawing entirely from contemporary testimony and forensic evidence of the time, this is the full story of Mary Gallop, the daughter who believed love could justify anything… even murder.

Further Particulars tonight features two masked burglars discovering — far too late — that the real danger in a Northumberland farmhouse is a determined servant girl with a broom.
