Army Men invaded the consoles in 1999/2000 by turning the original PC strategy game into a 3D, third-person shooter. I remember there being a LOT of marketing around the games but not so much love. I always wanted to like them but it felt like they went with quantity over quality, dishing out sequel after sequel without making any one of them exceptional.
Here’s one of the original commercials, introducing the franchise to players who may not have seen the game on PC up to this point. It’s simple and crass, like the games it isn’t a classic but there’s some nostalgic fondness here.
