Sometimes, you just need to jazz!

Let's be honest, if you have a hollowbody guitar, you HAVE to do a Jazz song at some point. And while this would have been perfectly suited to the Gretsch Streamliner I used to have... I don't have it anymore, but I DO have a PRS Hollowbody that I'm going to be selling soon, so I thought I'd take advantage of it and do some Jazz inspired music! The exact song I was going to do was a tough call, but I knew it would be Pokemon; there's enough Jazz harmony in Pokemon's music, especially Gen 2, to justify making it Jazz. But, as you may surmise, this one was a little tricky to arrange for one reason, and one reason alone: FamilyJules already did this one.

I wasn't going to let that deter me though! I set out to do this fully Jazz inspired; not really a big band or a small five piece ensemble, but rather guitar, bass, piano, and drums. What I got out of it, I think turned out sick! I did take a single idea from Jules though, and it's the chords at the end of the intro; they were perfect for the song, and the bass line underneath it only plays root notes. I grabbed onto that inspiration, and laid out the whole track in the span of a single night! I'm actually really proud of it, especially the mixing of the drums! Everything was great, but the drums especially were a vibe!

Now, while this was obviously a very easy project to get done, I've had a bit of a weird week leading up to this. I've finally started my new job, and I think the transition is giving me a bit of an anxiety or ADHD breakdown, so finding the real motivation to get this one done was very tough. I considered pushing it until sometime mid next week, but I ultimately pushed through, even though it worked out as being kinda phoned in. I've got big projects for the next three weeks in a row, but once I'm passed that, I'm sure it all work out well! There are some cool projects, that's for sure!

Next week, dragging someone else onto my channel to do a redo of an old Mario cover!
