Benchmark indices closed on a higher note after opening lower. The Nifty rose 211 points to close at the 25,682 mark, while the Sensex ended 650 points higher at 83,277. On the sectoral front, barring auto and media, all indices closed in the green, with private banks, PSU banks and realty emerging as top gainers. Power Grid, Coal India, HDFC Bank, Adani Enterprises and Max Healthcare were among the top gainers, while Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Maruti Suzuki and M&M featured among the top laggards.
