Silicon Valley tech headquarters are typically removed from the street and defined by extensive security and surface parking lots. Samsung’s campus—which abides by urban guidelines developed by the city of San Jose that call for densification, active streetscapes and environmental stewardship—moves the building close to the street edge and invites the community in with an open, welcoming design.
Inspired by the connectivity that Samsung’s products are meant to encourage, the company’s American headquarters seeks to maximize communication and attract and retain the best and brightest talent in Silicon Valley through its energy-efficient design and amenities that include courtyards, fitness facilities, artwork and cafes, some of which are open to the public.
