Dos Osos Golf Club, formerly the Eagle Crest Golf Club, is a championship-style course in Escondido, California, designed by David Rainville and opened in 1992. After a period of decline where it was considered one of America's worst-rated courses, JC Golf took over management in May 2024, began a full-scale renovation, and rebranded it as Dos Osos. The course officially reopened in November 2024 and held its Grand Opening in May 2025, marking a transformation from a dilapidated course to a revitalized destination with improved playing conditions and new amenities.
Origins as Eagle Crest (1992)
Design:
The course was designed by David A. Rainville and originally opened to the public in 1992 as Eagle Crest Golf Club.
Location:
Situated in the beautiful San Pasqual Valley, the course features a challenging design incorporating the local landscape with wildflowers, waterfalls, and lakes.
Decline and Transformation (2024-2025)
Management Change:
In May 2024, JC Golf began managing operations at Eagle Crest, immediately starting significant facility improvements.
Rebranding:
As part of the revitalization, the course was rebranded as Dos Osos, a Spanish term for "two bears," inspired by the San Diego Humane Society's Ramona Wildlife Center and its work with two rescued bears.
Renovation:
The renovation was extensive, including reseeding fairways, redoing bunkers, and addressing drainage issues.
Reopening and New Era (2025)
Soft and Grand Opening:
Following a soft opening in November 2024, the newly named Dos Osos Golf Club officially reopened with a grand opening ceremony in May 2025.
Recognition:
The course was recognized as California's Most Improved Golf Course of 2025 following its year-long transformation.
Community Support:
JC Golf has implemented new programs and events, fostering strong support from the local community and golfers who have returned to rediscover the facility
