The nucleus of the Manikins originated from a Perth, Western Australia group, the Cheap Nasties in the late 70s. At one time that band included Dave Faulkner who went on to found the Hoodoo Gurus. By 1982, a revived Manikins had relocated to Melbourne and eventually signed with CBS.
“What Are You On” / “Dictator’s Dream” was the first single and a self-titled album followed, from which a couple of tracks were issues as singles before the band broke up in the early 90s.
Writer Bradley Clark was a member of the group. The female lead vocalist is Christine Bodey.
