How to draft a Basic Bodice Block. How to draft pattern for plus size
Measurements are in inches
This can be used to draft the size below
Bust 46 48
Waist 40 42.
Hip 50 52
Shoulder to bust can range from 10, 11, 12 etc
Formula for armhole depth
Bust/6+1.5
Formula for Bust span (nipple - nipple)
Bust/4-1.5
The answer is divided by 2
Waist length i.e "shoulder to waist" is 16 that's the standard but it can range from
15,16 and 17
"Waist to hip" is 8 for standard but
For tall people it can be 9
(dart intake ( can either be 1" or 1 ½, for large sizes I choose to use 1½ for more fitted dress
I also came down by 1 ½" from the Bust line rather than the usual 1" because for large sizes, when you come down by 1" the "dart" after being sewn is still very close to the nipple because of the bigger bust (for plus size with big bust)
It is always advisable to measure the person you want to sew for because measurement varies
These are just standard measurements
