Using abbreviations in OET Letter writing | The best OET Coaching Centre in India | Tiju's Academy

In OET writing, the primary focus is to convey our intention to the reader. OET writing, as we all know, requires us to write a letter in order to convey the task provided in the cue card.
The video discusses the use of abbreviations in OET letter writing. There are three rules to follow when using abbreviations:
(1) check whether the reader of the letter will understand the abbreviations,
(2) write the medical condition in full form to avoid confusion, and
(3) avoid using abbreviations for drug administration and instead use complete descriptions.

Abbreviations that are commonly used and well understood, such as BP and BMI, are generally acceptable. However, it is best to avoid abbreviations that the reader may not be familiar with. Abbreviations for units of measurement, such as mg, are acceptable. The main idea is to avoid using abbreviations that can be confusing to the reader.
