Описание: Electromagnetic railguns are an experimental class of launch systems that use the Lorentz force—generated by powerful electric currents and magnetic fields—to accelerate a conductive projectile instead of relying on traditional gunpowder.
Over the past decade, several countries, including China and the United States, have publicly demonstrated or researched railgun technology. Reports suggest that some prototypes have achieved projectile velocities approaching hypersonic speeds, with figures around Mach 7 often cited in testing discussions.
Unlike conventional artillery, railguns are designed to launch inert projectiles using electromagnetic energy alone. However, the technology faces major engineering challenges, including enormous power demands, rapid rail wear, and heat management, which have limited widespread deployment.
Today, railguns remain largely experimental and continue to be studied for potential military and scientific applications rather than routine operational use.
