A late September solo overnight backpacking adventure into the Ansel Adams Wilderness, beginning at Agnew Meadows, heading north along the Pacific Crest Trail (High Trail) to Thousand Island Lake, then returning back to Agnew Meadows by following the John Muir Trail south to Garnet Lake where I followed a steep side trail down to the River Trail leading back to my origin. Total mileage of 18.3. To backpack this route, you will need to obtain the High Trail permit from the Inyo National Forest Ranger Station.
