Here's a sequence that caught my eye from Visconti's 'Ossessione' (1943). I did a break-down here of the camera blocking which is mostly unmotivated ie. the camera moves as an independent 'third person' as opposed to tracking with or following a moving person or vehicle. But it reveals Gino's motivations; in a purely visual manner we understand his interest is piqued by an off-screen 'siren' and he seizes his chance to seduce the boss's wife while he's away. The camera (shot choice) reveals character psychology. The truck with its engine roaring, pushing the curtain aside, the comb in the water bowl would appear to be symbolic. You can see the influence on Scorsese and Spielberg with moments like the whip pan to the table or and the use of the mirror at the end.
