US president Donald Trump has announced a large scale attack on Venezuela. The capital Caracas was hit by several explosions early this morning.
A military complex in the city has reportedly been set alight. Trump said on his social media platform that he also captured President Nicolás Maduro and has flown him out of the country. Newzroom Afrika's correspondent Simon Marks has more details.
