Zoo Atlanta received a 4,300-pound special delivery on May 20, 2020, with the arrival of the first southern white rhinoceros ever to live at the Zoo in its 131 years. The rhino, a 9-year-old male named Mumbles, comes to Atlanta from the Houston Zoo in Texas. His move to Atlanta was recommended by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ (AZA) White Rhino Species Survival Plan® (SSP).
