Nehemiah was broken hearted when he was told the condition of Jerusalem and the despair of the people in Jerusalem. He finds favor with the King Xerxes and is given permission and financial assistance to rebuild Jerusalem. Ezra is also mentioned in the chapter gives spiritual assistance to achieve the rebuilding of Jerusalem.
We have been called to be rebuilders. There are people around us who life has caused significant damage. Christians are called to help people rebuild their life. It is done by both physical and spiritual avenues. It is being helping hand such as a food pantry, encouragement or providing help. It is also praying for them and explaining to them God’s love. Paul tells us in Corinthians that we are Temples of the Holy Spirit. We are called not only to build our Temple to help others build theirs when they need assistance.
