The Ballagh Choir of Ages members are children and older people from North Leitrim and Donegal in the Republic of Ireland and County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. It is supported by the Reconciliation Fund at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, is both Cross Border and Cross Community, as well as Intergenerational. This cover of the Joni Mitchell song, Both Sides Now, includes a unique spoken word section, where members of the Choir talk about their everyday experiences of living close to the border.
The New Ballagh Centre is an old Church of Ireland chapel, restored by Rossinver Community Development Company, it is now a multi-purpose community resource centre, hosting training and educational courses, and space for community activities. The RISE Project is based at the Ballagh Centre and promotes the social wellbeing of older people through its Good Morning Phone line Service ‘Rossinver Calling’, befriending and co-ordination of four active age groups in North Leitrim, as well as supporting the Choir of Ages.
